菊正宗見学 Visiting Kikumasamune
5月30日、菊正宗という酒を作る会社に見学に行きました。It was raining that day. ちょっと早かった、でも、菊正宗の社長、山田さん、すぐ私達と会いました。
菊正宗 is one of my favorite company among all the companies that we visited. 山田さんは本当に親切な人です。I can tell that he really prepared for our meeting. He first led us into a meeting room. When we walked into the room, the ppt was already set with documents and a bottle of green tea organized put on each seat. After the 挨拶、he used both Japanese and English to give us a brief introduction about the company, then he showed us a video explaining the traditional sake making processes.
After getting to know the traditional sake making processes, he then took us to their factory cross the street to explore the modern sake making process. We led us walk through each step that was written on the document we got at beginning and he also welcomed all the questions that asked. One of the most impressive things is that we actually had the chance to see their workers making the big wooden bin they use to store sake. I can’t explain how professional they are, but it is definitely something that makes you say “WOW.”
On the way waking out of the factory, 山田さんshowed us the equipment they use to make sure the water quality. I made a video of it. But I would like to hold the reason for now. So if you are interested in why, you are welcome to join this program and ask 山田さんin person! Here is the video.
We then visited the memorial museum of 菊正宗. In the museum, we say the traditional equipment for making sake. I highly recommend that you listen carefully when 山田さん explain how all small pieces work in the process. I was so impressive by the wisdom.
At the very end, also the most exciting part, we tasted sake for free! We tried three sakes at the store of the museum and another four when we walked back to the meeting room. 山田さんeven prepared food for our sake tasting.
Overall, I enjoyed our 見学 and I love 菊正宗 along with its sake, culture, spirit, professionalism, and the sweetness and niceness of people in the company.
