オックスフォード大学の学生達に会う！ Meeting Oxford Univ Students

オックスフォード大学

　　6月の初めての日、私たちはオックスフォード大学から神戸大学に一年ぐらい留学している学生達に会いました。みんな日本の文化が好きで、日本語を勉強していました。

　　私たち、USCの学生はおかしを食べなが個人プロジェクトのための質問をしました。私は特に、日本のアイドルについて色んな質問をして、日本人の方にはもらえない特別な意見を答えられました。

　　ある学生は日本のアイドル業界の「握手会」（あくしゅ会）ということについて話してくれました。テレビである若い女の子のグループの握手会のことを放送して、男の人のファンをインタビューを見たと言いました。その男性は "I feel the youth"という変な言葉をしてショックだったと言いました。日本の、若い女性アイドルを対する文化はイギリスと全然違うと言いました。

　　他の学生はK-Popアイドルと日本の男性アイドルを比べてくれました。とても新しくていい観点でした。でも、日本のアイドルのことをあまり知らない学生ももちろんいたんですけど、日本に住んでいて大学で勉強していることや、色んな話をしてくれました。

　　面白かったのは、私も感じたのをある学生も同じく感じたことです。日本の食べ物はアメリカと比べて、やすいほうですが、果物はすごく高いことです。ですから、何かりょうでイギリスの料理をしたい時、大変だと、ある学生が言いました。私も一週間日本にいて、同じことを感じて、変だなと思いました。なぜでしょうかね。

　　会ったオックスフォードの学生皆ん日本でよく勉強して、イギリスに帰って、安い果物をたくさん食べたらいいと思います。バイバイ＾＾

　　On June 1st, we met students from Oxford University. They were studying in Kobe University for almost an year. All of them loved Japanese culture and were trying to learn Japanese. 

        We got the opportunity to ask questions on our Individual Projects, which were all in different topics. I, in particular, was doing a project on Japanese idol industry, so I was able to get opinions from foreigners living in Japan. 

        One student mentioned about how Japanese idol culture is different from that in England and other Western countries. And a student also compared Japanese Idol to K-Pop idols. Not everyone there knew about Japanese entertainment industry, so we talked about how living in Japan is like for them since they had been living in the country for months. 

         I thought it was interesting to hear a student say the same thing I thought before, which was the high price of fruit in Japan. The overall prices for food in Japan are pretty low, and it is fairly cheaper than the food in the U.S.. But the fruit and other groceries are so expensive that she cannot cook home. 

        I was able to share opinions and get interesting perspectives with the students from Oxford University. We all had a good time, and I hope the best for the students.
